Russia does not intend to close the border with Ukraine because of swine influenza. It has been stated in an interview to Rossiyskaya Gazeta by Minister of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova.
"As for the so-called dangerous neighborhood with Ukraine, we are not going to close the border. But we have already tightened sanitary controls at the border points," - said Tatiana Golikova.
The minister said that the situation with the incidence of swine influenza is under control in Russia.
"In a situation of rapid spread of the disease the most important thing is the right vision, the possibility to make efficient decisions, the adoption of additional measures. We have tightened the system of daily monitoring for all regions for this in the cases of acute respiratory diseases and influenza, including avian influenza A/H1N1. And we monitor all the cases that occur with severe complications, and especially we are watching the situation in risk groups - children, pregnant women.
