President Viktor Yushchenko ordered the Defense Ministry to provide all military units with test systems for detection of influenza virus A (H1N1). He said this during a meeting with the leaders of the military departments. According to the Head of State, the use of military test systems will allow to identify the virus, then to deal with them at the early stage.
According to the President, in general, in all military units of the country the number of patients with influenza and acute respiratory viral infections is 3,967 people, 190 out of them are diagnosed as with pneumonia, 4 of them have virus A (H1N1). However, Viktor Yushchenko noted that in most military departments there is a tendency of reduction the number of patients and only in the Defense Ministry – it is growing.
However, First Deputy Minister, Acting Minister of Defense Valeri Ivashchenko explained that the Ministry has increased hospitalization of all persons who have the slightest signs of acute respiratory viral infections. In addition, Viktor Yushchenko ordered the Defense Ministry to hold consultations with the Ministry of Health on compulsory seasonal vaccination of militaries.
Also, in his opinion, the military should follow isolation of patients and completely prohibit all events.
In addition, he instructed the military to provide military aviation for transportation of critically ill people or their evacuation from the quarantine regions at the request of civilian authorities, Ukrainian News reported.

Ministry of Health has confirmed 20 deaths from pneumonia in Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv Regions.
