Employees of criminal search department of the Kyiv Police revealed the attempted murder in March 2009 of Chief Sanitary Doctor of Railway Transport of Ukraine Roman Makomel, said Chief of the Main Department of Interior Ministry in Kyiv Vitaly Yarema reported at a press conference.

According to him, the crime was revealed within the framework of a criminal investigation of the murder in 2006 of the Chief sanitary doctor of railway Vasyl Anashkin. Three apprehended for the murder of Vasyl Anashkin are involved in the attempted assassination in March of this year Roman Makomel.

Vitaly Yarema said that the organizer of these crimes is detained – particularly, the director of the commercial structure, which provided Ukrzaliznytsia with services to sanitize the rolling stock. According to Vitaly Yarema, he is the man gave the killers gun Walter and grenade RGD-5 to eliminate Roman Makomel.

Vitaly Yarema said that "if the deputy Roman Makomel did not throw a grenade, which jammed between the window frames, seven people who were present at the meeting would be injured.

At the same time he explained that the motive of commission of both crimes were intentions both of Vasyl Anashkin, and Roman Makomel to optimize means to deprive businesses structures of an opportunity to disinfect the carriages and return the function of to the sanitary epidemiological station of Ukrzaliznytza  as it was before, because some of these firms are receiving from the state budget up to Hr 100 mn per year, UNIAN reports.

As a reminder, the murder of Vasyl Anashkin was committed on March 29, 2006 at the Hryhorenko Avenue in Kyiv. At that time a group of unknown people shot Anashkin, born in 1949. The prosecutor’s office in the Darnytsa district of Kyiv opened the case. As a result of the operational search activities, three Kharkiv residents born in 1982-1973 were detained, two of whom were the leaders of society with limited liability. The murder weapon - a gun Walter was found and confiscated.

On March 11, 2009 an unknown threw a grenade into the building of the State Sanitary-Epidemiological Station in railway transport (under the Ministry of Health), resulting in injuring of 7 people. The criminal case was opened under Article 15 (attempt to commit crime) and article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
