Ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma believes that the past five years in Ukraine have been cast to the wind. He said that in an interview with Corriere della Sera, writes InoPressa.
Victor Yushchenko, who came into power as a result of the Orange Revolution, had been pushing the country to the catastrophe during that period. "We quarreled with our traditional friends and did not answered any specific bell, even in relations with Europe", - explains Leonid Kuchma.
Now, according to him, the collapse is observed nearly in all regions: in the domestic policy, foreign policy, in the economy. During all the recent years the authorities were engaged only in populism, he added.
Speaking about relations between the new President and the Verkhovna Rada, Leonid Kuchma said that none of the deputies want to dissolve the parliament; that is why they have to work to form a coalition that would back at least stability. It is possible even to cooperate with the party of outgoing President Victor Yushchenko –it is possible to come to the agreement with some people there, the ex-President noted.
As for the personal relations between Victor Yushchenko and Victor Yanukovych, according to Leonid Kuchma, there are no personal problems. As for Yulia Tymoshenko, Leonid Kuchma said: "Oh, I wish this woman behaved like a woman, not as Vesuvius! When she speaks, her mouth is always like a conduit."
Speaking about relations with the West, in particular, with the United States, Leonid Kuchma expressed his belief that Viktor Yanukovych would rebuild relations easily, because in finally a normal person came into power in Washington in the White House, Ukrainskaya Pravda reports.
As for relations with Russia, according to ex-President, it is necessary to create a consortium between Russia, Ukraine and European countries-consumers to manage the pipeline network better. "And then the gas disputes would be the past" - Leonid Kuchma is sure.
According to the ex-President, his people and his team are returning: "Everything is zeroed. I am satisfied that everything comes back."
