Italian coach Marcello Lippi could head the Ukrainian national football team, UKRINFORM reported, with reference to the 1+1 TV Channel.
Negotiations between Lippi and President of the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) Hryhorii Surkis will take place on November 17, during a friendly match between Switzerland and Ukraine.
Yurii Kalitvintsev will prepare Ukraine for the game in Geneva, and this match could be the last one for him at the helm of the Ukrainian national football team.
If the negotiations are successful, the Italian trainer will assume his duties in February 2011.
Lippi last time headed the Italian squad. After the fiasco at the 2010 World Cup, when the Italians failed to advance to the knock-out phase, he said that he no longer intended to work at the international level. However, Lippi said a few weeks ago that he planned to return to coaching.
