Olympic Committee hopes Ukraine to bid for 2022 Winter Olympics

President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhii Bubka believes Ukraine is capable of hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

He said this during a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Crimea, the press service of the Head of state on Wednesday reported.

"The IOC (International Olympic Committee – editor.) believes that seven years are enough to start from nothing and to prepare for holding the Olympics at the highest level. And today, when we have 12 years (until 2022) and five years before the vote at the IOC session, if we take up this issue seriously, and follow the schedule strictly: we will annually do a certain volume of work on the construction of the sports facilities we will need in 2022, I think it is realistic (to do this – editor.)," Serhii Bubka said.

According to the president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Ukraine needs to prepare "all the information and to improve the infrastructure by 2014, so that in 2014 the country could bid to host the Winter Olympics."
