Moroz: Lytvyn bears direct relation to murder of Gongadze

Ex-Speaker, presidential candidate from the Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU) Oleksandr Moroz said that the head of the Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn must give evidence on the Gongadze case, since it bears direct relation to the murder of a journalist Georgiy Gongadze. Oleksandr Moroz said that in Donetsk, commenting on the statement that Volodymyr Lytvyn was a paymaster of Gongadze’s murder.

Oleksandr Moroz noted that for most people who follow the Gongadze case Melnychenko’a statements on Lytvyn’s involvement in the death of Gongadze is not news, but Melnychenko for the first time told about this in public. "I see only one way out - Speaker Lytvyn should go to the prosecutor’s office and testify without equivocation," - the press service of the party cited the leader of SPU as saying.

"Lytvyn knows: his fault is not that he headed Kuchma's administration (at the time of Gongadze's disappearance), but that is directly related to the disappearance and murder of Georgiy Gongadze", - claimed Oleksandr Moroz, who in autumn 2000 made in the Verkhovna Rada Melnychenko’s film in public.

"Only the court should determine what relation Lytvyn bears to it", - Ukrainskaya Pravda cites the the candidate for President.

As MIGnews.com.ua reported, on December 7 ex-State Guard, Major Mykola Melnychenko claimed the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn ordered the murder of Gongadze.

Spokeswoman for Volodymyr Lytvyn Olga Chorna claimed that Mykola Melnychenko recently tried to go to the polling staff of Volodymyr Lytvyn and ... asked for money for allegedly silence on the Gongadze case.

Mykola Melnychenko turned to the Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko with a statement in which he asks to interrogate the press secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn Olga Chorna on the accusations against him of extortion of funds from the Speaker for his silence on the Gongadze case.

The team of the Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn will not respond to the charges of Major Mykola Melnychenko, which were found untrue by the court. It is said in the statement of the press service of the Lytvyn Bloc.
