Flooding in Zakarpattia region gets status as regional emergency situation


Flooding in Zakarpattia region on December 7-10 was close to the historical floods of 2001 and received its official status as a natural disaster of the regional level. Such a conclusion was drawn by the members of the regional commission on manmade and environmental safety and emergency situations after analyzing the scale of losses of the current floods.

The press center of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration told an UKRINFORM correspondent that according to preliminary estimates by experts, the floods had caused over UAH 61 million worth of damage to the region's infrastructure.

The floods on December 7-10 affected 42 towns and villages in the region.
