Entrepreneurs of Ukraine, who have come at protest in Kyiv, see in the Tax Code threat to small business, according to the newspaper The Washington Post.
According to the newspaper, thousands of protesters in cities of Ukraine, "reflect a decrease in popularity of the current President Yanukovych."
According to the experts of the newspaper, the new Tax Code may, in fact, actually reduce government revenue, as it smothers small and medium business in favor of big business.
The new Tax Code will cause corruption by giving tax inspectors too many powers to control the companies, the newspaper writes.
The authorities react on the demonstrations in Kyiv timidly, “Viktor Yanukovych has lost his head and doubts whether to sign a Code, because he is afraid of a serious fall of his popularity. He has promised the protesters to meet with them this week and consider their demands."
The newspaper also writes that the tax system of Ukraine is now in the top three worst in the world, according to the World Bank, which has studied 183 countries.
