Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Serhii Tihipko intends to combine his work in the Cabinet of Ministers with his duties as a deputy in the Dnipropetrovsk regional council. Serhii Tihipko announced this at the first session of the regional council.
“You have more concrete tasks when you are working in the executive government. Here, at the representative level, it is a different form of government. However, I think that it will benefit me to look into this. Firstly, I coordinate the activities of the region on the part of the government; secondly, when implementing reforms at the center, it is very important to understand how they are reflected at the regional level,” he said.
According to Serhii Tihipko, he intends to participate in all sessions of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council.
In particular, politician plans to discuss the first concrete steps of the new regional council with the leadership of the region on Friday.
As previously reported, the Strong Ukraine (Sylna Ukraiina) party, which Serhii Tihipko heads, has 12 of the 140 seats in the Dnipropetrovsk regional council.
The Regions Party won 53 seats in the Dnipropetrovsk regional council from the region’s majority-representation constituencies, the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Ukraine of the Future party won 4 seats each, Tihipko’s Strong Ukraine party and the People’s Party won 3 seats each, the Hromada party won 2, and the Front for Change party won 1 seat, Ukrainian News reports.
The Party of the Regions also won 39 seats in the Dnipropetrovsk regional council from its party list, the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Association party and Tihipko’s Strong Ukraine party won 9 seats each, the Communist Party of Ukraine 7 seats, and the Front for Change party 6 seats.
