A few days ago one of the members of the presidential candidate Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko made a statement which, on the one hand, confirmed the assumption of many politicians and experts, on the other hand - caused serious scandal in the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (BYuT).
The matter is about MP Svyatoslav Oleynyk in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper: "I think that the Kremlin supports just Tymoshenko. Everybody notes how Russia's TV rather positively covers her activities. Hence, she is perceived. I do not think that the Kremlin supports Yanukovych. Yanukovych did not justify the books made on him for two times”.
According to Svyatoslav Oliynyk, Yulia Tymoshenko - a pragmatic leader, "she knows how to negotiate with Putin, she knows how to negotiate in Europe”.
MP from BYuT Volodymyr Yavorivsky said that “a provocateur is detected , who is working against the Prime minister and presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko".
However, the topic of a probable protege of the Kremlin in Ukraine rises before each election and develops in various directions not only in Ukrainian, but also in the foreign media. So Russia's newspaper "Vremya novostey" notes that the agreements between Vladimir Putin and Yulia Tymoshenko on gas would be very tempting to consider the sign of direct support of the latter part of Russia. However, gas compromise and everything associated with it, can not be regarded as "a symptom of the final selection of the Kremlin."
According to the newspaper, the candidature of Viktor Yanukovych, as a possible President of Ukraine, is more problematic for Russia than the candidacy of Yulia Tymoshenko - Russia worries about a possible unpredictability of Viktor Yanukovych. "We do not rule out if he wins, he will have to follow the path of other the so-called fraternal President of Moscow - Belarusian Alexander Lukashenko, who today is becoming a new cause for distancing from Russia", - the newspaper writes.
However, the British magazine Business New Europe does not rule out that Yulia Tymoshenko, for the sake of support from Moscow secretly promised Vladimir Putin, “in particular, both the sale of Ukrainian gas transportation system to Russia, and the non-entry of Ukraine into NATO and the EU, as well as the provision of the Russian language status as the second official language in the State.
And another newspaper of Russia - Nezavisimaya Gazeta - predicts a new recession in Ukraine due to the rise in price for Russian gas in 2010.
The newspaper also quotes the adviser Yulia Tymoshenko and presidential candidates Sergei Tyhypko, who believes that the public debt of Ukraine at US $35 bn might lead to the fact that "she will soon lose the ability to pay the bills."
Serhiy Tyhypko also stressed that "Ukraine ranks first in the world on the risks of investing in government bonds”. Nezavisimaya Gazeta also quoted statistics of growth "of flight of money from Ukraine" and predicts the acceleration of this process. By Ukrainskaya Pravda
