British heavyweight boxer David Haye has announced that he will not hold a fight with one of the Klitschko brothers in Germany. David Haye says that 2011 should be the last one in his career, so the main fight in his life must be spent at home – at one of the stadiums in London.
The Briton added that in Germany he won the world title for the version WBA (World Boxing Association), gaining a victory over Russian Nikolai Valuev in November 2009. Since then, David Haye defended this title twice and both times he fought in the UK. On November 15 world champion (WBC version) (World Boxing Council) Vitali Klitschko said he was ready to fight against David Haye in the spring of 2011 in the U.S., Germany or Great Britain. Ukrainian added that he offered David Haye to sign a contract for the fight and divide the fee in half, reports Lenta.ru.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the WBC has ordered the elder Klitschko to hold a mandatory defense of his title against the winner of the battle between Cuban Odlanier Solis and American Ray Austin. This fight will take place on December 17.
