Court left in custody the former mayor of Kamenetz-Podolskyi Anatolii Nesteruk and ex-Secretary of the City Council Mykolai Nechai for a month. The court considered a submission of investigator of the prosecutor’s office in the Khmelnytska region to extend detention in custody of officials.
The prosecutor's office explained its request by the fact that the investigation has not been completed already, audit of the Control and revision department is coming to the end, as well as telephone calls of subscribers are being checked now. The suspects are in jail of Khmelnytskyi detention facility, UNIAN reports.
In September, the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) reported that they exposed the illegal activities of Anatolii Nesteruk and business manager of the city executive committee of Kamenetz-Podolskyi Mykola Nechai who demanded bribes from local businessmen in the amount of 300 thousand UAH.
The Prosecutor's Office of Khmelnytskyi region opened a criminal case under part 2, Art. 368 (large-scale bribe-taking or by official person who occupies the responsible position) and Part 2 of Art. 364 (abuse of power or position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
