The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine activates the extradition of the former Minister of Economy Bohdan Danylyshyn from the Czech Republic to Ukraine, according to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka.
"The process is long, we will brisk up the work at bringing Danylyshyn to Ukraine quickly", - said the Prosecutor General at a press conference in Kyiv.
According to him, all the necessary materials have bee transferred to the Czech side. "Our officials went to the Czech Republic and provided the documents," – Interfax-Ukraine cites him as saying.
As reported, Bohdan Danylyshyn is charged under Part 2 of Art. 364 (abuse of power or position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Being in the past the head of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, he was responsible for coordinating public procurement. Using his official status and violating the requirements stipulated by the legislation, Bohdan Danylyshyn assisted limited liability companies to make purchases. As a result of his actions, it caused loss to the state amounting to 13.9 million UAH.
In August 2010, Bohdan Danylyshyn was included into the wanted list (domestic, interstate and international search). On October 19, he was apprehended on the territory of the Czech Republic. Ex-Economy Minister says he is ready to arrive in Ukraine by himself if the international search is canceled.
