The IMF (International Monetary Fund) is very content with the situation in Ukraine and predicts a successful first revision of the cooperation program stand by in a month. This was reported by the IMF managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
"It is all right in Ukraine. This is a merit of IMF partially, but, basically, the government has done it" - Interfax-Ukraine cites him as saying.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn said that limiting the growth in wages and pension reform are painful, but necessary measures, as the most important thing for Ukraine is to solve the problem of shortage of public finance.
He also called on Ukraine to attract investments, noting the significant potential that exists in the world today due to the excess of liquidity of the international financial market. "This can be easily done if we understand that low taxes will attract investment. We are not against it, but taxes are not the only solution of the problem" - said the head of the IMF.
According to him, investors working in Ukraine complain about not only high taxes, but about the need to establish appropriate legal and regulatory base that to do business transparently in the country. "The rapid change in taxes is a threat to the budget. First of all, you need to cut costs," - said Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
In turn, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that the current budget deficit meets the requirements of the program with the International Monetary Fund.
