Luzhkov: Ukraine Has No Grounds to Appropriate Crimea and Sevastopol
The Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov supposes Russia is to confirm the status of Sevastopol as the Russian city because, according to him, it corresponds to a few historical documents. “We (Russia) are obliged to confirm the status of Sevastopol as the Russian city. Russia cannot protect its southern frontiers without Sevastopol”, said the Moscow mayor in TVC TV broadcasting. “The delivery of the Crimea was done contrary to the requirements of USSR Constitution”, supposes Yuri Luzhkov. Particularly, according to him, while the delivery of the Crimea to Ukraine was realized, Constitution of USSR was violated because the national referendum had to be held. “Does Ukraine have the grounds to appropriate the Crimea and Sevastopol? No”, supposes Yuri Luzhkov. While commenting on decision of Ukraine’s authorities about declaring him persona non grata for his statements about the status of Sevastopol, mayor said: “Nobody can frighten me, they could not shut me up earlier and cannot do it now”. In opinion of Yuri Luzhkov, Ukraine is afraid of his visits to the Crimea and Sevastopol because “the cat ate what belongs to others”. The Moscow mayor supposes “everything moves to the dissension” between Ukraine and Russia. Yuri Luzhkov made such a conclusion when he saw how Ukrainians celebrate nationalists and what Ukrainian authorities think about Sevastopol. By UNIAN |
