Prosecutor General Office of Ukraine intends to interrogate the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn and the former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma within a framework of investigation of the case on the murder of journalist Georgy Gongadze. Law enforcers want to call Volodymyr Lytvyn for questioning on Friday, and Leonid Kuchma - next week, Ukrayina moloda reports with reference to its sources.
The reason for calling is confirmation of the authenticity of the so-called "Melnichenko's films" by international experts - audio recordings in which Leonid Kuchma and Volodymyr Lytvyn were discussing what to do with Georgy Gongadze.
According to the newspaper, apprehended general Oleksiy Pukach explicitly pointed at these representatives of the power as paymasters and the instigators of kidnapping the journalists, which ended with his assassination, reports NEWSru.ua.
The Prosecutor General's Office has not confirmed or denied information on plans for an immediate interrogation of Volodymyr Lytvyn and Leonid Kuchma officially. "The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office has no information on it”, - said the speaker of the Prosecutor’s General Office Yuri Boychenko. - In general, it is a closed issue, because investigator of the Gongadze case is planning his actions. When he wants to inform mass media about it, he will do it”.
