The Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn believes that a situation with swine influenza is advantageous for politicians. "Some people demonstrate they are fighting for the country and in this way are trying to push their rivals in electoral field. And others, of course, live with the hope that if the situation becomes worse, it will require the imposition of a state of emergency and postponement of the presidential elections, "- he said.
Lytvyn again admitted the state of emergency might be imposed in Ukraine as an extreme scenario of influenza epidemic.
Volodymyr Lytvyn also considers that the prohibition of the Cabinet of Ministers to carry out mass actions contravenes human rights. Lytvyn reminded that on Thursday Parliament passed a resolution in which the government is encouraged to review some of its decisions regarding the prevention of the spread of influenza, in particular, the decision to ban public events.
Also Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada believes that the epidemic of influenza is caused by social reasons. "There is a great amount of sick people in the regions where the lowest wages are, where the government can not solve the problem of garbage disposition, where it is cold in the apartments”, Speaker stressed.
Lytvyn said that there is a large number of people dying not only of influenza, but also as a result of traffic accidents, tuberculosis, cardiovascular diseases, HIV/AIDS in Ukraine. "No one did not shout that we had an epidemic while there was no election campaign," - he stressed.
Volodymyr Lytvyn noted that, before accusing anyone of the epidemic, the government must answer the question why people still are not provided with heat and hot water. In his view, there are many other causes, in particular, related to the quality of medical care, as well as providing people with drinking water.
