Gauze bandages in Kyiv. Shocking data of Health Ministry (updated at 05:48 pm)
Kyiv City State Administration intends to organize the free distribution of gauze bandages for citizens to prevent the spread of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections, the first deputy chairman of the city administration Irena Kilchytska told at a briefing.
According to her, every inhabitant of Kyiv out of 2,7 mn of residents who are officially registered will get 2 flu masks. These masks will be made of gauze, transferred to the city by the State Committee for Material Reserves.
Irena Kilchytska noted that 25 city enterprises will sow these masks, which offered assistance to the city. She reported that 44,000 sq m. out of 300,000 sq m allocated by the State Reserve, have been already in the city.
First of all, ready-made masks will be distributed among the poor, and then will be given to other citizens, Ukrainian News reports. Irena Kilchytska noted that the masks will be distributed either through the housing municipal organizations, or according to the decisions of regional administrations.
She also reported that the city has received from the Ministry of Health 200,000 gauze bandages, which will be distributed to the staff of medical institutions of the city.

Vladimir Putin said he is ready to send to Ukraine 200,000 packages of antiviral drug Arbidol, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports. The heads of the government agreed on a joint laboratory research of influenza strains, which are constantly changing.
Yulia Tymoshenko appealed to his colleague from Russia with a proposal to buy from Russian Federation vaccines, which can be used for the prevention of influenza. Vladimir Putin has promised to do everything to deliver vaccine to Ukraine as soon as possible, UNIAN reports.
Operational Headquarters on response the situation with the spread of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in the Transcarpathian Region decided to sell only one pack of antiviral drugs to one person.
According to information from the Ministry of Health, 762,835 cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections have been registered in Ukraine. 33,979 people are hospitalized. 109 people died of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections, the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies reports.
The epidemic threshold is exceeded for the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in the Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Transcarpathian, Rivne, Volyn and Vinnytsa Regions, RBC-Ukraine reports.
Altogether 415,196 people are ill in the regions mentioned above. 20,947 people out of them are hospitalized. 103 people died. In particular, 2 people died of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in the Vinnytsa Region; 45 – in the Lviv Region; 17 – in the Ternopil Region; 15 – in the Ivano-Frankivsk Region; 10 – in the Chernivtsi Region; 4 – in the Volyn Region; 4 – in the Khmelnytsky Region; 4 people – in the Rivne Region; 2 people – in the Transcarpathian Region.
01:42 p.m. Director of Health and Medico-biological protection department of the Emergencies Ministry of Ukraine Oleksiy Hromazyn reported that 28 cases of influenza A/H1N1 virus have been confirmed in Ukraine. He also said that in 13 cases people died, Glavred reports.
