WBC (The World Boxing Council) disqualified for six months the American heavyweight boxer Chris Arreola for using foul language on the ring after the fight with Vitali Klitschko in September 2009. Arreola is excluded from the WBC rankings, and deprived of the right to claim a world title.
The American was disqualified at the initiative of WBC President Jose Suleiman, who said that any boxer has no right to swear in public, reports Lenta.ru.
The fight Arreola vs. Klitschko, in which Ukrainian defended his world title on the version of the WBC, was held on September 26, 2009. The match ended with a victory of Klitschko. After ten rounds Arreola’s coach asked the judge to stop the duel.
After the fight Arreola could not hold back her tears, and in the post-match interview he used foul language. For what words Arreola was punished, it is not specified.
The period of disqualification of American boxer will be taken into consideration since September 26. Thus, on March 26 2010 WBC will return Arreola into the rating of heavyweight boxers.
