Somali pirates have agreed to receive a ransom in the amount of US $3,5 mn for the release of a Greek bulk carrier Ariana with a Ukrainian crew on the board, Reuters reported.
As the representative of the pirates reported, they will release the ship in 48 hours, or even earlier, depending on when they get the money. "We are waiting for money", - he said. Pirate specified that the crew is safe, UNIAN reported.
As a reminder, Ariana, Greek cargo ship under the flag of Malta, with 24 sailors, the Ukrainians on the board was seized by pirates at night of May 2, 2009 during the transportation of 35,000 tons of soya from Brazil to Iran.
Relatives of Ukrainian sailors – members of the crew Ariana are calling on the Ukrainian authorities, the ship owner and the world community to accelerate the release of the vessel and the crew of the pirate captivity.
