Today low-grade animal products are being imported to Ukraine. The Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Yuri Melnyk claimed this at a press conference in Donetsk, URA-Inform reports.
He states that according to official statistics, every Ukrainian consumes on average about 40-42 kg of meat per year. He assured that the Department of Agroindustrial complex and experts in this field are working at the prevention of low-grade meat getting to domestic markets of the country. "But they are working with us on a double standard: duties for them are prohibited, and for Ukraine must have low duties – for them export support to foreign markets, for Ukraine -export support prohibited. That is why we must stand fast," – Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine is sure.
Yuri Melnyk noted that Ukraine can independently provide its residents with animal products. In conclusion, he added that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy has worked out a set of activities that will change the situation in the livestock complex.
