Automakers note a negative impact on the automobile industry of Ukraine's entry into the World Trade Organization, they reported at the second annual international conference on development of automobile industry in Ukraine AutoPROm.UA 2009.
"There are no benefits after we entered into WTO", - noted the deputy president of corporation UkrAvto Oleg Papashev.
At the same time, President of Bogdan Corporation Oleg Svynarchuk noted that after joining the WTO, no foreign investor has come in the automobile industry of the country. According to him, entry into the WTO does not change the investment climate in the country, and it is necessary to create favorable conditions for coming of investors o Ukraine. He also reminded there are technical limitations on the supply of goods for export that for the domestic producers of cars.
At the same time, the first deputy general director of holding company AvtoKrAZ Yaroslav Bondarenko noted a significant increase of competition in the domestic truck market after Ukraine had entered WTO.
According to the president of Zaporizhia Automobile Building Plant (ZAZ) Mykola Evdokimenko, Ukraine's entry into the WTO without a transition period is a big mistake. Mykola Evdokimenko stressed that Ukraine's accession to the WTO in the middle of the fiscal year was also ill-conceived and had a negative impact on the industry, Ukrainian News reported.
