Ministry of Health warns: flu epidemic in Ukraine may start early.

"We expect these outbreaks in the middle or late November. However, much will depend on the weather," - said the first deputy minister of Health, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Oleksander Bilovol.

According to him, the epidemic is fixed in the Ternopil Region. Schools in Ternopil region and Chertkovsky district are closed for quarantine. Deputy chief sanitary doctor Lyudmila Muharska adds - this might be the beginning of the epidemic across the country. "Usually, the first outbreaks of influenza begin in the border areas, and then spread throughout Ukraine," - she explains.

The epidemic is declared in Drogobych (Lviv region) also. Moreover, local residents say that the three people have died of flu, Segodnya newspaper writes.

"Two students and vocational school student died last week and only after that quarantine was declared," - says a local resident Alena Dmitrieva. Local doctors assure that the death was due to pulmonary complications (but it is the major complications of influenza). "On Thursday, the Sanitary epidemiological station has made an order of quarantine in the schools, the issue of suspension of academic studies is being examined now", - said the chief doctor of Drohobych Sanitary epidemiological station Oksana Hryvnia. She also confirmed that many sellers in stores are already using flu masks, but assured that the drugstores are provided with all necessary in order to prevent the epidemic.

Immunologist Fedor Lapy agrees that influenza has come too early: "But in Spain and Portugal is now an epidemic of influenza and acute respiratory viral infection. The virus migrates, that is why it appeared so early in the Ukraine. In this connection, I do not rule out recurrence of the epidemic in the late winter”. A director of the Center of influenza Oleksander Hrynevich warns that, in addition to ordinary flu, swine flu will come to Ukraine closer to the New Year. He advises before leaving the house to lubricate the nasal mucosa with oxolinic ointment, to wash hands as soon as possible and rinse your nose with a soap solution.
