The first candidates for President of Ukraine have been registered today, at the meeting of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine (CEC) (at least 30 people are expected). In particular, CEC registered the following candidates for the presidency: a citizen Oleg Riabokon (involved in the election as independent), MP from faction of bloc Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense Anatoly Hrytsenko (independent), MP from faction bloc Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense Arseniy Yatsenyuk (independent), the leader of Communist Party of Ukraine Petro Symonenko (nominated by the Left Bloc and the Center-Left forces).
All 15 members of the CEC have voted for such decisions.
CEC Chairman Volodymyr Shapoval predicts that 30 candidates will participate in the campaign for presidential elections.
As a reminder, on October 19, 2009 a campaign for presidential elections in Ukraine started, which will be held on January 17, 2010, Ukrainian News reports.
